RESOLUTION NO. 2000-08-28

HEALTH CARE SERVICES, HOME AND COMMUNITY CARE FUNDING FOR NEW POST FIRST NATION

WHEREAS the federal government of Canada has set allocations for First Nations to deliver home and community care funding; and

WHEREAS New Post First Nation's allocation is inadequate to meet the essential elements of home nursing care and home support required by Medical Services Branch; and

WHEREAS the Mush.kegowuk Employment and Training Services funding that supported the position of a home support worker in New Post is no longer available and this position provides an essential service to elders and disabled persons requiring in-home assistance; and

WHEREAS there is a need for administrative dollars for the New Post Health Centre; and

WHEREAS there is a critical need to have a full time nurse in New Post to provide home nursing care and other conununity health services;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Chiefs in Assembly supp01t New Post First Nation's request

for adequate home and community care funding, administration funding for the New Post Health Centre, and a full time nursing position;

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Chiefs m Assembly urge Medical Services Branch to provide sufficient funding to New Post First Nation to be able to deliver the home and community care services that are critically needed.
