Regional Health Services Integration
WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk Council and the Chiefs and Councils of the Mushkegowuk First Nations and the health services providers in the Mushkegowuk Territory have worked to integrate the health services of the Mushkegowuk Territories under First Nation control in order to improve health services to the Mushkegowuk people; and
WHEREAS the potential health services integration will involve integration of provincial and federal health services, and a new regional health board, and new special provincial legislation; and
WHEREAS it is essential that the proposed health integration not undermines Mushkegowuk Treaty and aboriginal rights to health services;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the tripartite committee overseeing the next steps in health integration include representation by a Mushkegowuk First Nation Chief.
