Youth Department

WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk Chiefs in Assembly have a mandate to support its youth initiatives; and

WHEREAS many First Nations in Mushkegowuk Territory have committed their· support to youth initiatives offered through the Youth Department that enhance and empower Mushkegowuk Youth in youth personal development and youth leadership; and

WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk Chiefs acknowledge the achievements and growth of the Youth Department in providing the necessary programming and services to the Mushkegowuk Youth; and

WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk Chiefs wish to reaffirm the spirit of the Assembly resolution 1998-08-08; which states 'fo establish a permanent department that can give youth programs the priority that they deserve and can provide training and support on a continuing basis."

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Chiefs will continue to lobby for the permanency of the Youth Department under the supervision of the Youth Coordinator, through an annual financial contribution from Indian and Northern Affairs Canada.
