Support for Missanabie Cree First Nation Initiative on Pasico and Regional Economic Development

WHEREAS the Missanabie Cree First Nation has volunteered to provide leadership and management services to resume and continue the Mushkegowuk regional economic development role of the Pasico Development Corporation; and

WHEREAS there continue to be a number of ongoing regional economic ventures and issues and opportunities which affect various Mushkegowuk First Nations and Mushkegowuk entities individually and collectively, and these would benefit from communication and sharing and co­ordination of information within the region to void overlapping and to strengthen collective action; and

WHEREAS Mushkegowuk Council no longer receives funds for Regional Economic ventures, which creates a vacuum in communication and sharing of information within the Mushkegowuk region.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Chiefs in Assembly support the Missanabie Cree First Nation's proposal to provide leadership and management services in resuming and continuing the regional economic development role of the Pasico Development Corporation; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Missanabie Cree First Nation's regional economic development initiative be reviewed at the 2006 Mushkegowuk Annual Assembly.
