Women's Political Representation

WHEREAS it is recognized and acknowledged that historically and traditionally, women of our First Nations were respected and consulted on various issues that impacted families, communities and the nation;

WHEREAS it is important that with the evolving changes and growth of our nation that the views and needs of Mushkegowuk women are represented fairly.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Chiefs in Assembly recognize and respect the efforts of women to ensure that the issues of concern to women are addressed and fully support the creation of a regional association for the representation of all Mushkegowuk women; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Chiefs in Assembly support the development of a proposal to acknowledge women's presence and participation in partnership with local Chief and Councils and with the other regional organizations.
