Mushkegowuk Regional Family Healing Centre
WHEREAS families in Mushkegowuk territories are sometimes severely affected by the effects of alcohol abuse in our communities, often due to the lack of employment and economic development in our region, and due to the lack of the social services in our communities; and
WHEREAS two Aboriginal family healing centers exist in Ontario, but both have waiting lists that are many months long; and
WHEREAS Aboriginal family healing centers in other provinces are usually inaccessible due to funding and other restrictions;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Chiefs in Assembly work toward the establishment of a regional family healing centre in Mushkegowuk territory.
