Resolution No. 2020-01-03

PRIMARY CARE HEALTH PLANNING

WHEREAS Mushkegowuk Council has received mandates from the Mushkegowuk Council of Chiefs to create the Mushkegowuk Health Plan to improve quality and access to services;

WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk Health Plan established in July 2018 is focused on three goals; 1. Developing a Primary Health Care System; 2. Developing a Governance Framework/Bilateral table with the Federal Government; and 3. Improving Mental Wellness;

WHEREAS under the goal to establish a Primary Health Care System, Mushkegowuk Council has received funding to establish an Indigenous lnterprofessional Primary Care Team, supported by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care;

WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk Council has worked with BainSmith Consulting to develop a Primary Health Care business case; a community health infrastructure assessment; an updated Primary Health Care strategic plan; an Information Technology Infrastructure assessment and a Community Health Care Needs Assessment;

WHEREAS Mushkegowuk Council has been progressively building capacity through recruitment and training and rebuilding and strengthening relationships to improve the

delivery and coordination of primary health care services;

THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Council Health Department will follow the approved organization chart as approved by the Council of Chiefs and seek approval for any major changes;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this Kihchinaskishkatowin of the Omushkegowuk mandate Mushkegowuk Council to continue with the planning, relationship and capacity building required to establish a Primary Care Health System for Mushkegowuk First Nations;

THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Kihchinaskishkatowin of the Omushkegowuk mandate Mushkegowuk Council to support the Council of Chiefs to work towards the finalization of the Mushkegowuk Council Primary Health Care Business Plan;

THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution will not be interpreted to prevent or limit any individual First Nation from pursuing its own discussions, proposals or agreements regarding the health and well-being needs of their community.
