Continued Support for Camp Chikepak

WHEREAS the Information Services and Education departments saw an opportunity to bring GIS science to the community's youth through the local schools' geography classes, online zooms and local community 'hangouts'; and

WHEREAS the Information Services department saw an additional opportunity beginning in 2017 to also expand this delivery to include a weeklong learning camp that teaches and integrates Traditional Knowledge and Western Science; and

WHEREAS the Information Services department has partnered with the Youth department to develop and deliver Camp Chikepak; and

WHEREAS Information Services and Youth departments have just successfully delivered its 6th year of camp in 2022; and

WHEREAS the Camp Chikepak experience has been extremely successful with a growing demand and waiting list,

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Chiefs and delegates of this 36th Mamowihitowin of the Omushkegowuk strongly supports the continued development and delivery of Camp Chikepak by the Information Services and Youth departments.
