Cumulative Impacts Lawsuit
WHEREAS Chapleau Cree, Missanabie Cree and Brunswick House First Nations are launching a Treaty-based legal action on the Cumulative Impacts of Forestry and other activities on their territories; and
WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk Council of Chiefs have previously supported this legal action; and
WHEREAS Mushkegowuk Council has received legal advice regarding the options of participating in this litigation either as a plaintiff based on "public interest standing" or be as a "full party intervenor" once the lawsuit has commenced; and
WHEREAS this 36th Mamowihitowin of the Omushkegowuk has discussed these options;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this 36th Mamowihitowin of the Omushkegowuk directs Mushkegowuk Council to join this litigation as a full party intervenor or public interest plaintiff.
